Prospective Majors > Declaring the Major

The Formal Process Of Declaring A Major In Environmental Sciences

1) Pick up the College of Arts and Sciences Declaration of Major Form in Garrett Hall.

2) Contact one of our Advisors for an appointment. Current major advisors are:

Patricia Wiberg (Hydrology, Co-DUP), 215 Clark (924-7546; pw3c)
Howard Epstein (Ecology, Co-DUP), 211 Clark (924-4308; hee2b)
Tom Biggs (Geoscience), Balcony 256 Clark, (924-0580; thb3k)
Stephan deWekker (Atmospheric Sciences), 380A Clark (924-3324; sfd3d)
Janet Herman (DMP), 212 Clark (924-0553; jsh5w)

If you believe you will be most interested in one area of our program, you can go directly to the advisor for that area. Otherwise, any advisor can get you started and you can always change your advisor once you discover your area of greatest interest. Contact Ms. Wiberg and Mr. Epstein for general information, for questions about transfer credits, and for advising for students who aren’t sure just what area or areas they may be interested in.

3) Meet with Ms. Wiberg, Mr. Epstein or one of the other advisors, being sure to bring both the Declaration of Major Form and your most recent VISTAA form with you so that the advisor can help determine which courses will best count toward your program.

Because there is no penalty in the College for changing your major, you are urged to declare our major as early as you wish and change later if necessary.
