The Formal Process Of Declaring A Major In Environmental Sciences

1) Pick up the College of Arts and Sciences Declaration of Major Form in Garrett Hall.

2) Contact one of our Advisors for an appointment. Current major advisors are:

Regular departmental advising is available throughout the year from the following undergraduate advisors. Please call for an appointment. Any of our other faculty can provide useful academic and career advice.

George Hornberger (General Advising), Room 206 Clark (924-6762)
Janet Herman (Geoscience), Room 212 Clark (924-0553)
Tom Smith (Ecology), Room 342 Clark, (924-3107)
Bob Davis (Atmosphere), Room 386B Clark (924-0579)
Todd Scanlon (Hydrology), Room 376A Clark (924-3382)

If you believe you will be most interested in one area of our program, you can go directly to the advisor for that area. Otherwise, any advisor can get you started and you can always change your advisor once you discover your area of greatest interest. James Galloway is our advisor for general interests, for transfer students, and for those who aren't sure just what area or areas they may be interested in.

3) Meet with your advisor, being sure to bring both the Declaration of Major Form and your most recent VISTAA form with you so that the advisor can help determine which courses will best count toward your program.

Because there is no penalty in the College for changing your major, you are urged to declare our major as early as you wish and change later if you wish.
