Maury Environmental Prize

The Maury Prize is the most prestigious student award in the Department of Environmental Sciences. It is awarded to the most outstanding graduate or undergraduate student in the Department in any year. Note that it is not awarded if a suitable nominee is not available. Criteria for the prize include both accomplishment and potential. It is awarded to the most outstanding student for their contributions to environmental science, their ability to communicate their findings, and their potential to better the understanding of our environment.

Instructions:

The nomination package should include the following:

  1. Curriculum vitae of the nominee
  2. Most recent UVa transcript
  3. Three (3) letters of support from Department faculty, including one from the nominee’s advisor
  4. Reprints of the nominee’s publications (if appropriate).

Nomination packages should be submitted to the Awards Committee Chair (usually mid-late March). A recommendation will be made by that committee and final approval will be made by the full faculty.
