I study land-atmosphere interactions particularly the emissions of biogenic hydrocarbons from trees. The title of my dissertation is “The fate of biogenic hydrocarbons in forest canopies”.

I study the effects of seagrass restoration on nitrogen cycling in the coastal lagoons of the Virginia Coast Reserve LTER site. My work is part of the 10 year old restoration effort spearheaded by UVA, The Nature Conservancy, and VIMS.

I am particularly interested in the role that biogeochemistry plays in the interactions among sea-level rise, primary production, and bioturbation by fiddler crabs (Uca spp.).The title of my dissertation is “Salt marsh stability: interactions among bioturbation, flood regime, and sediment type”.
