Current research interests include the evolution of groundwater chemistry including natural radionuclides associated with uranium deposits in Virginia and the effect on water quality of agricultural chemicals and hydrocarbons. Groundwater controls on radon fluxes in soils is also being studied. Salt water intrusion in the surface aquifers of coastal Virginia is under investigation as is the delineation of pollutant plumes form hazardous waste disposal sites. Optimum strategies for aquifer remediation are being formulated and the evaluation of risks from all natural hazards is underway.
